Academic Staff

Arya Sevgen received her B.S and M.Sc. degrees in Industrial Engineering, İzmir University of Economics, İzmir, Turkey, in 2014, and 2016, respectively. She receive her Ph.D. in Management at the Sabanci University, Istanbul, Turkey, in 2021. Her research interests are operations management, supply chain management, and their applications in renewable energy and energy storage systems.

Ozan Baran Demirçivi graduated from Ankara Kılıçarslan High School in 2013. In 2015, he started his undergraduate studies in the Department of Industrial Engineering at Dokuz Eylül University's Faculty of Engineering and graduated in 2019 with a GPA of 2.92. In 2020, he began his master's studies in the Department of Industrial Engineering at Dokuz Eylül University and is currently continuing his master's research. In his master's program, he is focusing on scheduling problems, heuristic algorithms, metaheuristic algorithms, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and reinforcement learning. As of 2023, he is working as a Research Assistant in the Department of Industrial Engineering at Izmir University of Economics, continuing his academic career.

Caner Taçoğlu graduated from Izmir American College in 2005. He received his B.S. degree from Izmir University of Economics, Dept. of Industrial Engineering as a Honor student and forth in ranking. He also received his B.A degree from Izmir University of Economics, Dept. of Business Administration as a double major. After working in SC Electronics, Germany as a management trainee for 8 months, he worked in Elda İçecek ve Enerji as sales team leader for one year. In 2012, He graduated from King's College London, England, Engineering with Business Management program as a Honor student. Taçoğlu received his PhD at Istanbul Technical University, Industrial Engineering Department in 2019. He was a research assistant in Izmir University of Economics, Dept. of Industrial Engineering between 2014-2019. He is actively working with blockchain companies as an advisor, author and community manager. His research areas are: Competitiveness, Operations Management, MCDM, Lean Thinking, SMEs and Blockchain.

Dr. Giray Resat has got his PhD degree from Industrial Engineering Department of Koc University. He specialized in sustainable manufacturing and transportation solutions for industrial clusters. He received bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering from Bogazici University. He works on the development of systematic approaches to systems engineering problems. He addresses development of approaches to integrate data (both qualitative and quantitative) with physical models and development of mathematical programming algorithms to optimize system performance. The core research area is related to Intermodal / Multimodal logistic area and its applications in real life. Also, it relates with integration methods for the intermodal logistics incorporating economics, service level and environmental concerns. He also involved in the many local projects to analyze the cluster efficiency in mobility and transportation systems in the light of sustainability concept. He participated in 3 FP7 projects: InTraRegio, Log4Green and MapDriver, also many local funded projects.

Oktay Karabağ is currently working as an assistant professor at İzmir University of Economics (IEU). Between 2021 and 2023, he served as an assistant professor in the School of Industrial Engineering at Yaşar University. He also experienced several researcher and faculty member positions in the Netherlands. Between 2019 and 2021, he worked as an assistant professor in the School of Economics at Erasmus University Rotterdam. Between 2018 and 2019, he also worked as a postdoctoral researcher on an industry-oriented research project at Eindhoven University of Technology. He completed his Ph.D. studies at the Department of Industrial Engineering and Operations Management at Koç University. He received a B.S. degree in Statistics from Ege University and a master’s degree in Intelligent Production Systems Engineering from İzmir University of Economics. His current research interests include stochastic modeling, design and control of manufacturing systems, maintenance optimization, and cooperation in supply chain management.

Selin (Bilgin) Özpeynirci received her B.S. degree in 2002, M.S. degree in 2004 and Ph.D. in 2007 in Industrial Engineering from Middle East Technical University. She worked as a research assistant at the Department of Industrial Engineering, Middle East Technical University between 2002 and 2007. She has been working in İzmir University of Economics, Faculty of Engineering, Department of Industrial Engineering since February 2008. She worked as a visiting researcher in Ecole Centrale Paris, France between August 2014-February 2015 and Centrale Supelec, France between August 219-August 2020 (supported by TÜBİTAK 2219 programme). Her research interests include production planning, scheduling, flexible manufacturing systems and multiobjective decision making.

Kamil Erkan Kabak received his B.S degree from the Department of Environmental Engineering, Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey in 2000. Then, he received his M.S degree from the Department of Industrial Engineering, Dokuz Eylul University, Izmir, Turkey and his Ph.D. from the Department of Design and Manufacturing Technology, University of Limerick, Ireland in 2011. During his doctoral studies, he worked as a research assistant at the Enterprise Research Centre in University of Limerick and he participated in a number of research projects on the semiconductor manufacturing. His research interests include simulation modelling along with its applications to analysis and control methods, production planning and control, stochastic processes and semiconductor manufacturing.

He graduated from Anadolu University, Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, Industrial Engineering Department in 1982. He started his academic career as a "Research Assistant" in the same department as of June 1983. After graduating from a Master Degree program in 1985, he started his doctorate education at the same university. During his PhD, he taught individual lessons as a Lecturer. After his doctorate qualification, he went to the United States with a "YÖK scholarship" and started his doctorate education at Cleveland State University. He worked as a "Research Assistant" at Cleveland State University Industrial Engineering Department between 1990-1993. He successfully completed his thesis titled "Apnea Recognition Using Neural Networks" and returned home in January 1994. In a number of academic (editorial board membership, organizing board membership, taking part in BAP projects, refereeing, panelism, etc.) and administrative duties (Head of Department, Faculty Board Member, University Erasmus Coordinator, Vice Dean, Faculty Board Member, University KOSGEB representative). He worked as the Head of Industrial Engineering Department of Eskişehir Osmangazi University Faculty of Engineering and Architecture in 2015-2017. As of September 2017, he joined Izmir University of Economics, Department of Industrial Engineering. Prof. Sermet Anagun is teaching courses related to Statistical Analysis, Quality Control and Forecasting, and specifically used GMDH Shell software (https://gmdhsoftware.com/) for his courses.
